The primary task of strengthening the load-bearing structures in buildings and structures is to counteract forces such as compression, torque, shear forces, stretching, and others that act on the structures and reduce their operational life.
Since 2016, we have worked in the design and manufacture of works for load-bearing structure strengthening with carbon composite materials according to the Code of Regulations No. 164.1325800.2014 "Strengthening of reinforced concrete structures with composite materials. Design rules”

Strengthening reinforced concrete structures is necessary not only over the course of the structure’s operation and wear, but also to increase the load-bearing capacity when changing the structure’s functional purpose.

Major problems of concrete structure wear:

 

  • Longitudinal and transverse cracks
  • Loss of concrete strength
  • Destruction of the concrete’s protective layer
  • Reinforcement bar corrosion

This results in a decrease of the structure’s load-bearing capacity.

This set of measures designed to eliminate damage and restore the load-bearing capacity involves the following activities:

  • Removal of the weakened structural elements
  • Injection filling the cracks (0.3 to 5 mm width)
  • Pointing of the cracks (up to 0.3 mm in width)
  • Anticorrosion treatment on reinforcement bars

Followed by:

  • Surface priming
  • Caulking cracks and holes from packers
  • Restoration of the concrete’s protective layer

After the damage has been corrected, it is essential to prepare the surface before it can be strengthened with FibArm carbon tapes:

  • Surface polishing
  • Sharp corners rounded (beveled at an angle >20 mm)
  • Surface priming (as needed)

  • Lines are marked according to the design
  • Surface cleaning and dust removal
  • Application of the adhesive layer of FibArm Resin

  • Prepared strengthening elements are lain
  • Strengthening elements are rolled onto the base

  • Application of FibArm Resin adhesive to the finishing layer of strengthening elements

  • Dust removal from the surface
  • Application of FibArm Resin adhesive layer

  • Prepared strengthening elements are lain
  • Strengthening elements are rolled onto the base

  • Application of FibArm Resin adhesive to the finishing layer of strengthening elements

Application of the top protective layer of strengthening elements in accordance with paragraph 7.6.1 of organization standards

As a result, we get:

  • The restoration of the load-bearing capacity
  • Deficiency correction of longitudinal and transverse reinforcement bars
  • Minimal time spent
  • Structure size remains the same
  • After strengthening, any finishing material may be used.
